How To Cook Aberdeen Angus Steak

Fred Berkmillers Scottish Food Challenge

Watch Fred complete his latest challenge of how to cook Aberdeen Angus steak. His travels take him to Crieff in Perthshire where he meets Sacha Grierson of Hugh Grierson Organic farm.
Hugh Grierson Farm is located seven miles outside of Perth and has been farming in this area for over 50 years. One of their main crops that they grow is grass, something that Scotland does very well.
Good grass is what helps beef taste great. On their farm, they breed a native Aberdeen Angus Beef which is very popular in Fred’s restaurants
L’escargot bleu  and L’escargot blanc in Edinburgh.
Fred uses these native breeds because he loves using breeds with a good, interesting history. He also explains that when in the kitchen you do not have to do as much when you have good ingredients. Good food is made using good ingredients.
As an example of what to cook with Aberdeen Angus Beef, Fred cooks some Angus steaks. He shows use how to cook these with some added shallots, garlic, and a little butter….perfect.
